Geography of Henan province
Henan Province is located in eastern part of China ,about middle and lower
part of Yellow River,and northwestern part of yellow Huaihai plain,majority of
its area is on the south of Yellow River,therefore it is called"Henan".More
than 2,000 years ago,Henan is China's Nine Provinces center,called Yu
state,therefore,Henan is called"yu",or"central state".Henan is the
neighborhood of Hebei,Shanxi,Shaanxi,Hubei,Anhui,Shandong province.The entire area of Henan province is approximately 167,000 square kilometers
totally.Yellow River flows across Henan with more than 700 kilometers.
Henan is located at the topography second steps and ladders to the third steps and ladders intermediate belt of China,western mountainous region is
fluctuate,the altitude is above one kilometer,eastern part is the plain,of
which the elevation is under hundred meters.The lowest elevation of Henan is
Huaihe River,which is only 23.2 meters.
Henan province has the climate between the subtropics and the warm temperate zone transition region climate,it has distinct four seasons,the rain and hot comes at the same time,and got a complex diverse chracteristic.Southern part of it belongs to north subtropics,the annual mean temperature of the entire provinceis 13 to 15 degrees centigrades,and the annual average rainfall is 120-570 millimeters.Frost-free period of the whole year is about 308-275 days.
